Drum Roll … Will Sheetz Keep Pepperoni Roll Production in West Virginia?
ALTOONA, Pa. — “We have made a decision on the West Virginia pepperoni partner,” convenience-store retailer Sheetz Inc. announced on Monday.
The much-awaited decision follows the backlash from consumers after Sheetz suggested the possibility that it would select a supplier from outside the Mountain State for the beloved pepperoni rolls.
In a just-released official statement, Sheetz said, “We are extremely thankful to have heard from our customers regarding pepperoni rolls sold at our stores in West Virginia. We are even more excited to be able to act upon on that feedback and deliver a partnership to provide West Virginia baked pepperoni rolls to all of our West Virginia stores.
“It is with great satisfaction to announce that Sheetz has selected Home Industries Bakery as their West Virginia peperoni roll partner.
“The company went through a thorough evaluation of West Virginia vendors and selected the best partner to supply all 49 stores in the state. We look forward to this partnership with Home Industries Bakery and appreciate our customers’ open and honest feedback through this evaluation process.
“We are a consumer-driven company, and our customer’s needs are, and always will be, extremely important to us. All West Virginia Sheetz locations will carry Home Industries peperoni rolls starting on September 12.”
Home Industries Bakery is based in Clarksburg, W.Va.
Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz operates nearly 500 convenience stores throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
